My name is Patty, at least it was on my first official certificate at birth. Later, after much discussion between Mom and Dad it was still Patty but my birth certificated sported a new official name, Patricia. But as you know kids will be kids and in school I became just Pat! The moment I hear someone call me Patty I know they are family.
There is magic in being called family and that means a lot to me. I probably wouldn’t call Missouri home unless it was because of family. Grandchildren have a way of throwing their arms around you and never letting you go. I loved that feeling so much that I stayed.
You know, I belong to another family, the family of God. All of you are my brothers and sisters in Christ. It is because of the life that Christ led as an example to us that I decided to take this journey. I feel blessed by all measure and even though I have traveled to 3rd world countries it is hard to really understand what it is like to live in poverty.
It is my prayer that as you journey with me into understanding the needs of others that you will examine how blessed you are and what “is required” by you.
